Joint Pain Supplements

Joint Pain Supplements are a necessary part of an effective joint pain treatment.

Because unless a joint hurts due to cutting or blunt force trauma/impact, the part of the reason the joint hurts is BECAUSE the dynamic is lacking adequate and specific nutrition.

Doctors prescribe painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and various pharmaceutical drugs depending on the cause of joint pain, but if one or more joints is hurting because of nutritional insufficiency, nothing can fix that except repleting the necessary nutrition.

To Actually Fix Joint Pain Supplements Are Necessary

There is no magic fix for joint pain.

Pain killers can dull the pain for a while. Anti-inflammatory drugs can too (but they don't stop the inflammation process).  But there is no pharmaceutical that can fix the CAUSE of joint pain.

You don't want to just dull the symptoms.  You want to fix the cause of the symptoms.

What Causes Joint Pain?

  • Arthritis
  • Impact injury
  • Infection
  • The Tendonitis Dynamic

Arthritis

Arthritis is either 'Osteoarthritis' or 'Rheumatoid Arthritis'.  Both cause joint pain. Both are reversible.

Oteoarthritis is really a symptom of the Tendonitis dynamic.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a symptom of nutritional insufficiency, eating inflammatory foods, and Leaky Gut.

Joint pain supplements are important to help reverse osteoarthritis, and REQUIRED to reverse RA.

See:  What Causes Arthritis?

See:  Cause Of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Impact Injury

Impact to a joint is pretty cut and dry.  Force is implied, and the bone/joint tissue gets bruised, inflamed, possibly damaged.

Nutritional supplementation can help the body recover faster than it normally would, so supplementation would be smart for you.

Infection

Various types of infections (viral, bacterial, etc) can cause joint pain.

Antibiotics will be prescribed (and probably should be).

Nutritional supplementation helps the body fight off infection, and helps the body recover from antibiotics.

The Tendonitis Dynamic

Tendonitis is a dynamic, consisting of several factors.

Specifcally on the topic of joint pain, the tendonitis dynamic causes joints to be constantly compressed (grinding on itself), and the inflammation process releases pain enhancing chemical into and/or around joints.

The tendonitis dynamic can/does cause Osteoarthritis.

Joint Pain Supplements

There are a million supplements on the market for joint pain, but these are the main options:

  • Magnesium
  • Vitamin D
  • Calcium
  • Turmeric/Curcumin
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids
  • Glucosamin/Chondroitin Sulfate
  • Bone Broth
  • Probiotics

Magnesium

Magnesium is SUPER important, as is why it and Vitamin D are at the top of the list.

When you don't have enough magnesium, your body can't work correctly in a lot of different ways.

Without enough magnesium, muscles can't relax, and tight muscles compress joints.  Constant pressure and grinding causes joint pain.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is really a hormone that's basically at the base of your body operation.

Possible symptoms of Vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency include tendonitis symptoms, muscle pain, joint pain, weakened immune system, etc

If your Vit D levels are low that can be a direct and/or indirect cause of joint pain.

Supplementing with Vit D can correct that causative factor, obviously.

Calcium

You need calcium for strong bones etc.  Unfortunately, we don't get enough magnesium and vitamin d, which are both responsible for the uptake and utilization of calcium.

Calcium supplementation is a waste of time.   Have you noticed the the US has the highest levels of Osteoporosis AND the highest levels of calcium supplementation?

We get enough calcium from our food (which can't be said of magesium or Vitamin D), but we need enough magnesium and vitamin to use it.

Turmeric/Curcumin

Turmeric is the most studied herb out there.  It is a pretty darned effective natural anti-inflammatory.

Curcumin is an isolated form of the active ingredient in turmeric.

I don't recommend Turmeric because there's a million things I could suggest and like to keep it simple.  But Turmeric is right up there on natural products that are measurably good for you.

Having said that, I prefer to get rid of joint pain and fix the cause of the problem.  Turmeric can be a good pain-reducer by decreasing the inflammatory process, but it's not a fix (like magnesium and Vitamin D are part of).

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega 3 fatty acids (of good source and quality) are anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory.

The standard western diet has a bad ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids, and that causes it's own problem.

Adequate intake of Omega 3 fatty acids is vital for overall health, and overall health is vitally important for preventing and reversing joint pain.

If you have the time and the money, go for it.  If you want to save money, switch away from the Standard American Diet. It is indeed SAD.

Glucosamine/Chondroitin Sulfate

Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are very popular joint pain supplenents.  Some people swear by them, some people notice no benefit.

Personally, I think they're expensive and that you don't get enough from a few pills.

That's why I'm a fan of bone broth (see below).

Bone Broth

Home made bone broth made from organic, grassfed animal bones/joints is the way to go.

It's tasty, it's food, and it has all the components of bones and joints (that your bones and joints need), including but absolutely not limited to glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate.

See the recipe on the Best Tendon Supplements page.

Probiotics

Probiotics for your joints?

No, probiotics for your gut.   When your gut is unhealthy and/or damaged, you have higher levels of inflammation, get less nutrition from your food, and develop Leaky Gut (opens in a new page).

If you have Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), you have Leaky Gut and a poor gut ecology.  Which leads to auto-immune mechanism, and joint pain.

If you have joint pain from something other than RA, then probiotics are important anyway.  The healthier your gut is, the healthier your body is.

And joint pain is a measure of how healthy your body is/isn't.

Joint Pain Supplements

If you are in the market for joint pain supplements, and you should be if you want to get rid of your joint pain, then you have a couple options:

  • Buy Locally
  • Buy Online

Buy Joint Supplements Locally

Not everybody lives in a big enough place that will have good supplements available.

Most every town has a pharmacy store like CVS, and every state has a Walmart, but the supplements you'll find in those kind of stores, for the most part, aren't what you'll be looking for.

For instance, every place carries magnesium oxide, because it's cheap.  But it's also pretty worthless.

Same with vitamin B12.  Most everyplace, including grociery stores, carry it, but they only carry 'cyanocobalamin', which again, is cheap to put into a product so that's what's on the shelves.

Good and/or big 'health' food stores generally have a better selection.

You may or may not have to go shopping in different stores.

Buy Joint Supplements Online

Online, of course you can get anything and everything.  Amazon is great for one stop shopping, though you'll have to have a list of what you want and search for it to add to your cart.

I've made it easy for you with the 'Joint Pain Pack'.

This pack has the basics of what you need to help reverse joint pain.
