Something popped after Topaz Plantar Fasciitis surgery on right foot

by HeelPop

I had Topaz surgery on my right foot for my Plantar Fasciitis pain almost 3 weeks ago. Everything has been going great on the healing.

My doctor was impressed and said this up coming week I could take my boot off. Well my girls are in band and had to compete so I went.

I thought I would try with out the boot. I had went to a football game the night before with out it and done fine. I was going up the bleachers and something popped in my right heel.

I did have some pain after that and it has some swelling. I am due to go back to work in two days.

Hi HeelPop.

How's life back at work?

Let's hope that that 'pop' was just new scar tissue failing and tearing apart. That -could- be not so bad.

Worst case scenario, the fascia that was cut suddenly ripped apart. So you had a strong structure, the surgeon sliced into it, and then it gave way under all the extra tension.

Granted, from your description, it's hard to tell.

It could have just been your ankle adjusting. It could have been a tendon/ligament separating to some degree or other.

The Tendonitis you were experiencing, in the form of Plantar Fasciitis, really consists of TIGHTNESS of muscle and connective tissue from your knees to your toes.

Tell me some more about the specifics of your pain/symptoms/surgery/recovery/new pop, etc.

I had topaz on left foot plantar fasciitis two weeks ago this thursday.
On sat I was getting ready for my work Christmas party and I seemed to have expierenced the same thing as mentioned above .

I was walking bare foot ,treading lightly due to it still being so tender and just popped as I was putting more pressure on front of foot. I thought maybe I just tore some tissue ,kind of like when you work out and rebuild muscle etc..

I work on my feet as a customer service for an airline and tonight seems especially tough. I still ice it when I get home, but today it hurt to even ice it. I havnt been taking many pain pills just ibuprofen, but taking one now. I am trying to stay hydrated and am trying to eat more protein as a read a few days ago on ur site.

Do you think that warming my foot/ feet on morning would help stretch them ?

It is nice to know other peoples expierences.
Thank you
Eva
Also , do you think that part of the reason so Many people have Plantar fisciitius is because of the crap they laden our food with ?Or more so of just how the Midwest diets have become so unhealthy. Or just combo?

Hi Eva.

Yes, I think lack of nutrition plays a huge role in tissue health/function.

A lifetime of wearing shoes never helped anything either.

Yes, I HIGHLY recommend warming the foot up in the morning before putting all your weight on the functionally cold/not-as-limber-as-it-could-be tissue of the mobile arch of the foot.
